1999 Pub of the Year

The Live & Let Live

Mawson Road

A quiet, cosy pub, with some gas lighting and an excellent selection of interesting beers, plus the local cider, Cassels. Everards, Adnams, B&T, Hoegaarden and Bateman's Dark Mild are regulars.

There's a good choice of food available in every session.

In September 1998 it suffered a disastrous fire but soon recovered: The Live Lives Again!.

Landlord Pete Gray (right) has produced a gem of a backstreet pub, popular with the locals plus attracting many people from further afield.

He runs very successful mini beer festivals on major holiday weekends, such as Easter & August Bank Holiday 1999, and the pub is one of the few places to celebrate St George's Day.
