There has been a Blue Ball in Grantchester since the mid-18th century; the present pub dates from the end of the 19th century. It is small, with two rooms and only five tables. Photographs of the pub and village decorate the walls, along with a complete list of landlords since 1767.
The Blue Ball was a hot-air balloon flown from Trinity Hall Farm to Wickhambrook in 1785.
