Good Beer Guide 1997

The Good Beer Guide entries for the Cambridge area have been carefully chosen from the 370-odd pubs within the County boundary, bounded by the A1198 Royston - Huntingdon Road in the south-west and the new Bedford River and part of the Great Ouse in the north-west.

The selection criteria is first and foremost consistently good real ale quality. To achieve this, clearly there is no place for gas in the method of dispense. Neither would we expect this quality to be achieved if sparklers are in use - proper beer doesn't need an injection of air to liven it up. The licensee needs to have been in residence for a sufficiently long time to have proved his intentions and lived up to his promises.
